About Dr Judey Pretorius

Dr Judey Pretorius

Dr Judey is an accomplished Biochemical Scientist and product development specialist with substantial experience in the disciplines of acute, chronic and post-surgical wound healing, regenerative medicine, and cell therapy. She holds a Master’s degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology followed by her Ph.D. degree in in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, drug and development design.

Dr Judey gained extensive experience as a Research and Development Formulation Scientist. She was responsible for Scientific and Biomedical formulation of therapeutic products of premium brands in respective disciplines. Her contributions included cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical and medical device developments.

Dr Judey is the co-founder of Biomedical Emporium. She has made unique formulation discoveries, which has a profound influence on the course of new developments in aesthetic and wound care treatment.

Her laboratory responsible for all new innovative developments, cell culture processes, and consulting in the research and development of medical and aesthetic product lines, is based in Centurion.

Dr Judey has given numerous presentations at accredited aesthetic medicine meetings and events. She teaches skin histology, biochemistry, cosmetic chemistry, tissue engineering and medical aesthetics together with numerous leaders in dermatology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, aesthetic medicine and skin therapy.

Through extensive and continued research and development, she has been able to formulate an innovative line of products that work symbiotically and synergistically to stimulate the skin’s own rejuvenation and repair mechanisms for a healthier, more ageless complexion. Dr Judey incorporated her tertiary tissue-protective peptide technology into the Biomedical Emporium products providing each product with a unique scientific footprint to establish an optimal skin architectural structure.

Cosmetics can keep the skin moisturised and clean, but not much more than that.

Biomedical Emporium’s range of serums are light, fast-absorbing and contain high concentrations active ingredients. This potent ingredients come with substantiated research proving their benefit for skin of all ages. Our serums have a very small molecular structure and therefore gets absorbed deeper within the skin.

SERUMS	MOISTURISERS
Serums are formulated to penetrate deep into the skin to deliver key ingredients. Serums has smaller molecules than moisturisers. A serum comprise of the ability to penetrate and add nutrients into the deeper layers of the skin, that a moisturising cream is not able to reach. Serums are much finer in texture than creams and are more readily absorbed into the skin.	Moisturisers are formulated to keep the skin hydrated by putting a protective barrier between it and the outside. Facial cream has larger molecules than serums. Therefore, skin care creams are used to treat mostly the surface level of the skin. Moisturisers contains a whole collection of ingredients to fulfil various functions in skin.
