Medi Aesthetic Solutions, the exclusive distributor of Lysiwave in South Africa, is introducing a next-generation device for non-surgical body contouring. Developed by Biotec Italia, this technology combines controlled microwaves with pure oxygen flow, offering a safe and effective solution for fat reduction, cellulite improvement and skin firming.
How Lysiwave Works
At the core of Lysiwave is the synergy of microwaves (2.45 GHz) and oxygen flow.
- Microwaves generate controlled dielectric heating in targeted tissues, selectively acting on fat cells, collagen and water molecules without damaging surrounding structures.
- Pure oxygen is delivered simultaneously onto the skin, cooling the surface and preventing overheating while stimulating hydration, microcirculation and cellular metabolism.
This dual action means patients experience a comfortable treatment with no need for conductive gels, while practitioners achieve visible improvements in skin texture, tone and contour.
Treatment Applications
Lysiwave is designed for both aesthetic and medical applications, addressing some of the most common concerns in body contouring:
- Localised fat reduction (abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, knees, buttocks)
- Cellulite and PEFS (panniculopathic oedematous fibrosclerosis) reduction
- Skin tightening and firming
- Pre & Post-liposuction enhancement
Thanks to controlled heating, collagen fibres contract immediately, creating a lifting effect, while long-term benefits come from neocollagenesis (new collagen production).
Technology & Safety Features
Lysiwave has been engineered to deliver high performance with patient safety in mind:
- Two applicators:
- LD Applicator (3cm diameter – 6mm superficial penetration)
- HD Applicator (4cm diameter – 12mm deep penetration)
- Temperature monitoring: A built-in sensor prevents skin temperatures from exceeding 41°C.
- Oxygen cushion: Protects the epidermis, minimises inflammation and enhances comfort.
- Rapid treatment times: Sessions take only minutes compared with longer radiofrequency procedures, with no downtime required.
Treatment Protocols
- Fat reduction: 4–8 sessions, 2–4 times per month, with maintenance every six months.
- Cellulite/PEFS: 4–8 sessions, repeated twice monthly.
- Skin lifting: 4–8 sessions for visible tightening effects.
Before-and-after studies demonstrate significant improvements in fat reduction, skin firmness and overall silhouette within just a few sessions.
The Advantage Over Radiofrequency
While radiofrequency has long been used in aesthetics, microwaves penetrate more deeply with greater selectivity. Lysiwave quickly raises subdermal tissue temperatures to 55–60°C, achieving effective fat disruption and collagen remodelling in minutes, rather than the 30–40 minutes often required with RF.
