Did you know that 4 out of 10 women experience some form of sexual disorder? From difficulties in arousal and achieving orgasm to pain during intercourse and low sexual desire, these issues can significantly impact a woman’s quality of life. Dr Nicole Kanaris shares a solution that’s changing the landscape of intimate wellness: the O-Shot®.
Developed by Dr Charles Runels from Alabama, USA, the O-Shot® is a safe, painless, and effective non-surgical procedure aimed at rejuvenating and revitalising vaginal and clitoral function. Using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from the patient’s own blood, the O-Shot® stimulates tissue regeneration in key areas such as the clitoris and the upper vaginal region, also known as the O-spot.
The power of PRP
PRP, rich in growth factors, plays a pivotal role in stimulating vaginal and clitoral rejuvenation. This innovative procedure, often referred to as the “Orgasm shot”, offers women a chance to regain sensitivity, enhance sexual desire, and address issues such as urinary incontinence and lichen sclerosis (a rare skin disease that causes itchy and painful patches of thin, white, wrinkled-looking skin. In women, these may occur on the vulva and/or the skin around the anus. In men, it typically affects the head of the penis).
The efficacy of PRP isn’t limited to intimate wellness; it has been widely used in various medical fields for tissue regeneration. From orthopaedic treatments to aesthetic procedures like the Vampire Facial®, PRP has shown remarkable results in promoting healing and rejuvenation. Research is even exploring its potential in aiding infertility treatments by injecting PRP into the ovaries to promote healthy egg formation.
How does the O-Shot® work?
Traditional treatments for sexual disorders such as counselling and hormone therapy must be considered and can work hand in hand with the O-Shot®, which offers a minimally invasive solution with promising results.
However, it’s crucial to emphasise that the procedure should be performed ONLY by a qualified medical doctor with appropriate training. Certified physicians can be found on the oshot.info website, ensuring patients receive safe and reliable care.
The O-Shot® procedure itself is relatively quick, typically lasting around 30 minutes. After applying a topical anaesthetic to the vaginal area, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm – similar to a routine blood test. This blood is centrifuged to isolate the PRP, which is then carefully injected into the clitoris and O-spot using a thin needle.
The growth factors within the PRP initiate tissue regeneration, stimulating the production of stem cells, collagen, and blood vessels. This process leads to healthier and more responsive tissue in and around the vagina, addressing concerns such as increased sensitivity, enhanced orgasms, reduced pain during intercourse, and improved vaginal tightness.
The benefits of the O-Shot® extend beyond intimate wellness. Patients often report increased sexual desire, enhanced clitoral orgasms, and relief from urinary incontinence. Additionally, the procedure can improve the appearance of the vulva, making it look more youthful and smoother.
Who should get the O-Shot®?
Women considering the O-Shot® procedure should be over 18 years old and in good health. It’s advisable to avoid certain medications like aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and cortisone leading up to the treatment. With no downtime, patients can resume normal activities immediately, although results may vary from person to person.
In addition to its direct benefits for intimate wellness, the O-Shot® procedure holds the potential to positively impact overall mental and emotional well-being. Intimate satisfaction plays a crucial role in one’s self-esteem and sense of fulfilment. By addressing issues such as sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence, the O-Shot® can help women feel more confident and empowered in their relationships and daily lives.
Talking about sexual health
Furthermore, the O-Shot® fosters a sense of normalisation and openness surrounding discussions about sexual health. By providing a safe and effective solution to intimate concerns, it encourages women to prioritise their sexual well-being and seek out the necessary support and resources. This shift towards proactive self-care can have far-reaching effects on women’s health and happiness.
The O-Shot® procedure is not just about treating symptoms; it’s about promoting holistic wellness. By stimulating tissue regeneration and improving blood flow in the vaginal and clitoral areas, it contributes to overall vaginal health and function. This can translate into reduced risk of infections, improved lubrication, and enhanced comfort during intercourse, further enhancing the overall quality of life for women.
As the field of aesthetic medicine continues to evolve, it’s essential to recognise the importance of addressing intimate wellness as an integral component of overall health and vitality. The O-Shot® represents a pioneering approach in this regard, offering women a safe, effective, and empowering solution to reclaim their sexual wellness and embrace their femininity with confidence.
A quick procedure with lasting benefits
From my training and experience, some patients may experience immediate effects; however, others may take up to three months to see full results. Typically, the effects of one O-Shot® procedure last between 18 to 36 months, providing long-lasting benefits for intimate wellness and overall quality of life.
The O-Shot® represents a revolutionary approach to intimate wellness, offering women a safe, effective, and minimally invasive solution to address sexual disorders and enhance sexual satisfaction. With its proven track record and growing popularity worldwide, the O-Shot® is empowering women to reclaim their sexual vitality and embrace their sexuality without compromise.
In conclusion
The O-Shot® procedure goes beyond addressing physical symptoms; it’s a catalyst for positive change in how women perceive and prioritise their intimate well-being. By fostering openness, empowerment, and holistic wellness, it’s reshaping the landscape of aesthetic medicine and paving the way for a brighter, more fulfilling future for women everywhere.
