Why the follicle matters
Every visible hair is produced by a living hair follicle beneath the scalp.
Each follicle cycles through an active growth phase (anagen), a short transition phase, and finally a resting phase before the hair sheds. Under normal conditions, approximately 85–90% of follicles remain in the active growth phase.
Stress, hormonal changes, poor sleep, oxidative damage, nutritional pressure and scalp inflammation can prematurely push follicles out of this growth phase. Weeks or even months later, thinning, shedding and, in some cases, premature greying become visible.
This is why Vitant® was formulated to target the biology inside the follicle rather than simply coating the hair shaft.
A complete protocol from root to tip
The Vitant® range begins with two products designed to prepare and support the scalp environment.
The Vitant® Shampoo (R360 for 200ml) is formulated with ALGAKTIV® BioSKN® (Chlorella Vulgaris Extract), biotin, rosemary oil and hydrolysed keratin. Rather than simply cleansing, it supports the scalp microbiome while removing excess sebum and dead skin cells that may interfere with active ingredient penetration.
The new Vitant® Hair Conditioner (launching in August 2026) complements the shampoo by repairing cuticle damage without silicone occlusion of the follicle openings. It also contains ALGAKTIV® BioSKN®, extending scalp microbiome support during the conditioning step while helping restore the hair shaft.
These products provide the ideal foundation before introducing the leave-on treatment serums.
The original Vitant® Scalp Leave-On Serum

The cornerstone of the range is the Vitant® Scalp Leave-On Serum, formulated with two patented biotechnology ingredients: ALGAKTIV® Densidyl® and ALGAKTIV® BioSKN®.
ALGAKTIV® Densidyl® combines Chlorella Emersonii Extract and Spirulina Maxima Extract in a liposomal delivery system designed to reach follicle depth. Its mechanism is particularly unique because it targets several biological pathways simultaneously.
It inhibits the glucocorticoid receptor, helping block cortisol’s signal that pushes follicles prematurely into their resting phase. It also amplifies melatonin activity within the follicle by 74.47%, supporting the follicle’s natural overnight repair cycle. In addition, it activates NRF2 by 643%, stimulating antioxidant enzymes that help protect follicles and melanocytes from oxidative damage.
Unlike cosmetic products that simply colour existing grey hair, the serum also addresses premature greying biologically by protecting the melanocyte reservoir before permanent pigment loss occurs.
ALGAKTIV® BioSKN® works alongside Densidyl® as a scalp prebiotic, suppressing Malassezia overgrowth while helping rebalance the inflammatory scalp environment associated with itching, redness and sensitivity.
Clinical results from a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study over 140 days demonstrated an 11.4% increase in hair density, a 25.9% improvement in anagen phase recovery and a 24.3% reduction in grey hairs.
Introducing the new Vitant® Hair Regrowth Serum launching in August 2026
Joining the range is the new Vitant® Hair Regrowth Serum, designed specifically for age-related thinning and declining follicle density.
Rather than targeting stress pathways, this serum addresses the natural decline in Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF-2), an important signalling molecule that helps maintain the hair follicle’s active growth phase.
Its hero ingredient is Peaureva™, a biomimetic FGF-2 produced using a multi-award-winning plant biofactory platform and delivered through an Oleosome system that achieves 97% active stability while delivering directly to the dermal papilla.
The formulation simultaneously targets shortened anagen phase, declining follicle density, hair shaft miniaturisation, scalp barrier disruption and excess sebum production.
Clinical testing showed a 33.6% increase in hair density by Day 28, a 5% increase in hair shaft thickness by Day 28 progressing to 10.6% by Day 84, while microscopy demonstrated hair shaft diameter increasing from 52.76μm to 104.0μm.
