Ellipse has had a presence in the South African aesthetic market for many years, with many practitioners know these amazing systems.
Due to the acquisition of Ellipse by Syneron Candela, the distribution of these systems has been granted solely to Radiant Healthcare. To celebrate this, Radiant Healthcare decided to host a workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was two-fold: to introduce existing users and owners of the system to Radiant Healthcare, as well as to provide users and opportunity to learn more about the various Ellipse systems.
As part of the offering to educate users on the systems, Jens Petersen (international clinical specialist for Ellipse) spoke at the workshop. He has worked closely with dermatologists all over the world, ensuring that treatments can be safely performed by therapists and doctors.
The Nordlys (named after the Nothern Lights – Aurora Borealis), is the the star product from Ellipse. With capabilities ranging from hair removal, pigmentation treatment, acne, skin resurfacing, and vein removal, this multi-platform system wowed delegates as they were able to see live demonstrations of the system.
Technology
Ellipse IPL
All Ellipse systems make use of Ellipse IPL. This unique form of IPL, while still making use of a broad spectrum of light, has Short Wave Technology. SWT filters out the “unnecessary” light, meaning the there is a narrower width of light penetrating the skin. This ensures that only the necessary light enters the target (eg melanin in hair for hair removal), as a result, lower energy is required and this in turn reduces the risk of burns as well as eliminates the need for contact cooling of the skin.
Frax 1550
The Frax 1550 applicator delivers non-ablative fractional laser to the skin for the purposes of skin resurfacing, scar treatment as well as stretch mark treatment. The most intelligent Frax on the market, making use of a software algorithm to set parameters for safe and effective treatment.
Nd:YAG
This applicator is most ideal for the treatment of vascular lesions. With indications ranging from facial redness leg veins, port wine stains and venous lakes. The laser used is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the vessels. The laser energy (transformed into heat), then destroys the vessels supplying blood to the lesion. Over time, the lesion disappears, and the skin’s natural appearance is restored.
