Not long ago, we published the launch of these two new products from SOTHYS. I was sent the products to try out and cannot believe how much I have loved using both. I’m currently 7.5 months pregnant, and while I look forward to resuming Retinol and other skin actives post-partum and post breastfeeding, I’ve really enjoyed delving deeper into other ingredients to help my skin look healthy and glowy during this time.
Now, Vitamin C is not new on my or anyone’s skin radar, but finding brands that tick the Vit C boxes has sometimes been a challenge.
What did I review?
SOTHYS Renovative Micro-Capsules Serum With Pure Vitamin C
I love this Vitamin C because the capsules ensure the product is not exposed to the air which in some products can reduce its potency and efficacy. Plus, it’s perfectly portioned in biodegradable capsules for each use.
These capsules provide 20% pure vitamin c to the skin. At first, I started applying it every night but didn’t realise how potent they actually were and needed to reduce usage to every third night due to some sensitivity, then slowly to every second night. I’m loving these so much that I want them to last longer, so I’ve maintained usage every second night.
I have noticed a definite improvement in my skin quality, radiance, even skin tone, fine lines and dark spots since incorporating this into my routine from Feb 2022. So much so, that friends have actually commented on how nice my skin is looking. I keep telling them it’s not the pregnancy hormones, but this Vitamin C I’ve been using!
A tip when applying: I spot it onto my face directly from the capsule and gently use my two middle fingers only to then spread it into my skin. There’s enough product in a capsule to cover the full face and a bit of the neck. I found that applying product to my palms or all fingers first would make it pill and waste product, so this method worked well to avoid that.
Price: R1595 (60 capsules). If using every 2nd night, then this could last you four months!

SOTHYS Renovative Night Cream
I also apply this every second night. Typically, what I do is cleanse, use the REN Ready Steady Glow AHA Tonic, followed by the SOTHYS Vit C, and then apply a light layer of the Renovative Night Cream. When I wake up in the morning, my skin is smooth, hydrated, fresh, clear and glowy.
The cream doesn’t feel overly greasy, but it does give you that “I’ve-applied-a-night-cream-glow”. You know the one mean.
The Renovative Cream’s core formula contains the cosmetic anti-ageing power, boosted by double collagen and an AHA complex + organic blackcurrant buds to revive the complexion. It’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Just avoid the eye contour.
Price: R1250 (50ml)
