Autumn has certainly made its presence felt here in Joburg, with crispy, rust-coloured leaves carpeting the sidewalks and a chill being felt in the morning air. Another barometer for this change of season has been my skin, which feels a bit drier and devitalised, despite my normal daily and nightly skin ritual, or maybe, because of an enthusiastic bout of exfoliation after the summer holidays.
Fortunately, a new product launch from Filorga came to my rescue recently with their Global-Repair Multi-Revitalising Nutritive Balm – and what delighted me the most was the fact that it’s formulated for mature skin. In addition, the word “Balm” indicates that it’s going to soothe, protect and defend the skin against dehydration (a very telling sign of ageing) and tired-looking skin.
This one’s a goody. I find that my skin is quite taut after cleansing- I do love using a cleansing wash, so despite the lovely feeling of clean skin, I have to deal with the dryness. The Filorga balm is heavenly, used as advised: you warm a small amount of product between your palms and keep your hands flat, smooth from the inside outwards over the whole face, neck and décolleté. Massage with fingertips in circular motions then envelop the face with the palms of your hands for a few seconds. The formula is rich but surprisingly very light in texture. My face feels as if I’ve wrapped it in a soft scarf.
The ingredients are superb: ceramides, peptides, vitamins as well as precious Camelia and Evening Primrose oils improve the texture of the skin and help recover its elasticity. Hyaluronic Acid adds the moisture needed for fine lines. Omegas 3-6-9 help with the barrier function of the skin. I found the balm really nourishing and also used it as I would a mask, letting its intensity comfort my skin overnight, leaving it really smooth and soft.
This is going to be my winter ‘soup’ for my skin- nourishing, revitalising, and restoring.
It’s a winner.
