The Anti-Aging Art Centre in Houghton, Johannesburg, is a dream venue for aesthetic treatments – with magnificent grounds outside and beautiful rooms within, one feels tremendously special in the beautiful setting.
The centre offers a full range of medical anti-ageing procedures and treatments, including injectables, laser hair removal, microneedling and skin resurfacing. I was invited to experience the DrK Postbiotic Resurfacing peel which combines a natural source of Alpha-Hydroxy Acids and postbiotics (these are bioactive compounds made when the friendly bacteria in your gut, probiotic bacteria, digest and break down fibres). Skin rejuvenation relies on reducing inflammation and stress in the skin.
But first, here’s some information about this local brand, DrK Dermal Health Care.
The founder is Dr Juanita Killian, an international leading specialist in skin care, with years of research in the field of transdermal skin delivery. This has resulted in the scientifically advanced DrK Dermal health care range. The health of the skin is the main aim and the products are suitable for every age and type of skin, including sensitive, reactive skin.
The DrK Enzymatic Peel successfully treats sensitive skin, hyperpigmentation, acne, dullness and chronic redness. There are no harsh synthetic acids, so there is no downtime at all. I experienced a warm, tingling sensation on my skin which lasted a few minutes. My skin looked radiant when I left and the treatment lasted no longer than 30 minutes.
Coupled with treating your skin from the outside, bear in mind that great skin is also reliant on a healthy gut. I have taken the Renovobiotic Probiotic (in the form of powder in a convenient sachet, taken on an empty stomach in the morning) for a month now, with positive results. The probiotic has anti-oxidant properties, it supports the immune system and has anti-inflammatory properties as well. It also contains selenium and zinc which are beneficial to the skin.
If you are serious about your skin health, this range covers the largest organ in your body in a holistic way, tackling all skin issues and restoring health and vitality to the skin.
Scientific and sensible, definitely a brand I would recommend.
