What did I review?
The Elemis BIOTEC Sonic Skin Radiance Facial. This is one of seven new facials brought to you by Elemis Biotec. The other six are: Anti-Wrinkle, Firming, Resurfacing, Blemish Control, Sensitive Skin and a Men’s facial.
Each facial uses a different mix of concentrated serums, plus the 5-in-1 Biotec facial machine that offers a combination of ultrasonic, micro-current, oxygen and light therapy to lift, smooth, brighten or purify your skin, depending on your complexion needs and the type of facial you choose.
Where was it?
At the SPA DE LA VEILLE – MARION ON NICOL Boutique Hotel. Corner Stirling and Hamilton Road Hurlingham Johannesburg. Tel: 011 783 9952.
What was my experience?
It’s a very “modern” type of facial with science and high tech machinery to back it up.
The treatment involves the following:
- A lifestyle consultation – this is to access how you treat your skin at home, what you’re not and should be doing to keep your skin in peak condition.
- Cleanse and tone
- Ultrasonic Peeling – highly effective piezo-electric properties which when excited by ultrasound cause rapid vibrations drawing out impurities, deep cleansing and gently exfoliating surface impurities and pigmentation and stimulating collagen production therefore minimising the appearance of fine lines.
- Application of BIOTEC Radiance activator concentrated plant extracts to hydrate and plump the skin
- Application of Hydra Active Soothing Gel Eye Mask and amino active mask with all the necessary minerals and vitamins to replace what is lost in a dull and devitalised skin.
- Neck and Shoulder massage with our regenerative Japanese Camellia oil
- Application of BIOTEC Radiance activator concentrated plant extracts to hydrate and plump the skin
- Application Hydra-active soothing Gel Face mask which instantly calms and deeply hydrates the skin increasing penetration of the actives. And Pro Collagen Neck and Bust
- Galvanic Current – which is a 2-step treatment that works synergistically with positive and negative charged ions to propel similarly charged high potency actives deeper into the skin. Minimising the symptoms of ageing brought on by stress and tiredness – fine lines, dullness, photo-ageing, sensitivity and blemishes
- Application of BIOTEC Radiance activator concentrated plant extracts to hydrate and plump the skin
- Application of Eye Serum and appropriate Moisturiser.
What did I think?
If this is all sounding high-tech, it’s because it was. Regardless of all the science-y words, what I do know for sure is that my skin was dewy, softer, brighter, plumper and even-looking immediately after the treatment. I would definitely go again before a wedding or event to get a brightening boost.
What does it cost?
If I remember correctly, the facial is a little over R900 at Spa De La Veille, but the price will vary depending on the spa you go to.
Where can you get it?
There’re a few spas that offer the Biotec Facial (like Spa de La Veille at Marion on Nicol and Centurion), but you can contact Elemis South Africa directly for a list of spas 011 783 9952.
Anything else you should know?
Yes – I also tried three other Elemis home use products and loved them:
- Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm – a luxurious facial cleanser. I smothered face with this in EVERY shower, left it on for a few minutes then rinsed. It was super complimentary to my skin type.
- Elemis Advanced Brightening Serum – I used this daily for a little over a month, and while I’ve never believed that topical products will give you as good results as a peel, laser treatments or even Botox or hyaluronic acid doused fillers – I do believe that using quality products like Elemis certainly help to keep your skin in the best possible condition without having the more “invasive” treatments.
- Elemis Pro-Collagen Eye Gel Masks – These. Were. Fabulous. Just fabulous! They’re little gel masks that you place just below your eyes, leave them on for 20 minutes and once removed the under eye skin is visibly fresher-looking, plumper and smoother. The results aren’t permanent of course, but they’re truly wonderful to pop on before an event in the evening.
These and other Elemis products can be found at Spa De La Veille and other spas, but it’s probably best to contact Elemis South Africa to find a stockist closest to you 011 783 9952. Alternatively, I found this South African online store which sells Elemis.
