At first glance, I wasn’t sure about this product when it landed on my desk, as skin lightening products per se are non-grata – however, on further research and pondering, I realized that the benefits are multitudinous and generally appealing.
Firstly, let’s tackle what these Opalesce capsules contain: powerful, natural ingredients which have significant effects on skin tone, reducing dark marks and melisma (a common skin disorder characterized by brown discoloured patches of skin on areas of the face exposed to the sun; also developed during pregnancy). Opalesce capsules are 100% natural, vegan and GMO free. The ingredients are colourless carotenoids, derived from hybrid white tomatoes and L-Cysteine, an amino acid and powerful antioxidant.
Colourless carotenoids provide protection against sun damage/environmental pollution and encourage an even skin tone. They also inhibit melanin production (the pigment that causes skin to tan) as well as reducing inflammation and making the skin radiant and supple. That’s definitely a plus for me.
More recently, in doing some research for hair loss, I had come across L-Cysteine as a great skin and hair supplement, so it made sense that it is one of the key ingredients in the Opalesce capsules. L-Cysteine helps the body produce Glutathione, which is an incredibly potent antioxidant, combatting free radicals, boosting the immune system, detoxifying and promoting a lightening of the skin. Another plus.
It wouldn’t be fair of me to say that these capsules have lightened my few sun spots after a month of taking them (I don’t really have an excess of pigmentation) however, the ingredients convince me, as their benefits are tried and tested and this is why I would recommend them to anyone battling with melasma, which can be very distressing, or hyperpigmentation, which is an ongoing skin issue.
Always look to the science:
According to the data from clinical trials* of the product, Opalesce was shown to have substantially reduced the existing melanin within melanoma cells. 65% of the volunteers showed an increase in their natural skin SPF, as well as seeing an improvement in their skin in terms of texture and tone – the result being supple, radiant and smooth skin.
On the other hand, if you have the budget, don’t suffer from hyperpigmentation but want to prevent age-related dark spots and have an even, smooth complexion, then try Opalesce capsules. Your skin will reap the rewards.
