Most Aesthetic Appointment Blog readers know that Filorga is one of my favourite brands, simply because of the excellence in research on skin physiology and the subsequent development of skincare products that are formulated with active ingredients that really benefit the skin. Another thing that appeals to me is the fact that Filorga is a brand that doesn’t rest on its laurels.
And that is why they go back to the drawing board to perfect a product that really works- and to make it better than ever.
The relaunch of Sleep & Peel has probably taken many of its users by surprise, as it was a successful formula that was inspired by professional peeling treatments used in aesthetic medicine. The night cream contained a combination of amino acids which exfoliated and regenerated the skin gently. But the beloved French brand has gone a step further and given it a makeover. Now known as Sleep & Peel 4.5, encased in a sleek, silver, syringe-type tube, the new formula packs a concentrated punch of hydroxy acids (concentrated at 4.5%) which are formulated to give you some exceptional results.
Now, for those with sensitive skin, Peel is an infamous four-letter word which can make you run screaming for the calming calamine lotion in your bathroom cabinet. But you needn’t worry: this product is actually ideal for you as it is anti-inflammatory and non-irritating- also perfect for shaving as it soothes inflammation in the hair follicles. But the beauty of Sleep & Peel is as the name suggests: it works while you sleep and continues the action during the day.
I tested this product for 3 weeks straight, simply applying it onto double-cleansed skin at night (face, neck,décolleté)- nothing else. The texture is a soft, creamy one, easily spreadable so don’t be tempted to use too much, as a little goes a long way. The Filorga signature scent is present (but dissipates quite quickly) and it absorbs beautifully.
What I noticed in the morning was smoothness. The texture is refined and fine lines are minimal. If you sleep on your back, you’ll be very happy with the Sleep & Peel result, as the actives were doing their job without being squished into your pillow!
Always remember to avoid sun exposure when using actives- even if you don’t use this product during the day- put your sunscreen on! It is indicated that Sleep & Peel 4.5 be used as a treatment for 1 month- I think if you do this, you will be pleased with the results!
