The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa have been rolling out an exciting new focus on Wellness and Mindfulness since its reopening in May. Ground-breaking new spa treatments and an innovative new offering with VitaJuwel water, collagen-infused smoothies and juices are available for Saxon Spa guests. In addition to this, hotel guests can opt for exciting new virtual fitness and wellness classes from the comfort of their own suites.
New Treatments at the Saxon Spa
In the words of Saxon Spa Manager, Tanya Lopes, “During a year of Global anxiety and uncertainty, we have seen a global shift in the consciousness of self-care which has revived much-needed conscious learning of our environmental and physical factors.
This has forced us to prioritise the importance of applying mindfulness to all our actions and thoughts, in doing so we have learnt to slow down our thoughts and be aware of our actions without letting our concerns of the world affect the enjoyment of every moment.
During this year we have spent a great deal of time re-conditioning ourselves into this global trend so that we can share this knowledge with our guests and transform our journey into one that focuses on reducing anxiety and stress through mindfulness and conscious wellness.”
Mindfulness
Introducing the journey towards Mindfulness into the Saxon Spa, guests start each treatment with a bespoke mindfulness journey – allowing guests the opportunity to shake off the concerns of the outside world before embarking on their treatment. Guests are guided through these immersive mindfulness journeys by their Saxon Spa therapist, to ensure that the maximum benefit is derived from this meditation.
Bellabaci Massage
Another new offering is the Bellabaci Massage, a treatment based around a silicone cupping technique to aid in drainage and detoxifying the body. Cupping therapy has been practised around the world for thousands of years, but this traditional therapy has now been modernized with the use of silicone Bellabaci cups. As these cups are flexible the therapist can move them over areas of pain and tension and unlike traditional methods of massage, these cups can be used directly over bones and joints.
Our Bellabaci Massage combines the techniques of Swedish and deep tissue massage to relieve pain and detoxify the body. This form of deep tissue massage releases toxins from the muscles and enhance blood circulation, leaving muscles and joints feeling loosened and relaxed.
Digital Detox Journey
Our new Saxon Signature journey: the Digital Detox Journey, is the brainchild of Spa Manager Tanya Lopes and allows guests to separate from their devices and reconnect with themselves through a massage focussing on those stress points brought on by the use of technology.
This innovative treatment begins with the guest sealing their digital devices in a technology bag, before embarking on the signature Saxon mindfulness exercise. Following is a full-body exfoliation and a massage combining Bellabaci cupping and deep tissue techniques, to release tension stemming from digital strain.
Our spa therapist will guide the guest through ways in which to extend the Digital Detox Journey into their everyday lives – maximising the benefits of the treatment.
Sleep therapy
The unique new offering Sleep Therapy has also been added and is ideally suited to a jetlagged traveller, as well as being highly recommended for those of us who are sleep deprived due to the high levels of anxiety or stress in our lives. The treatment takes place on a dry flotation bed, where programmed chromotherapy lighting will aid in drifting off into a deep restful sleep.
Amazingly, a 30-minute sleep therapy treatment is the equivalent of four hours of undisturbed sleep – the perfect way for a time-strapped modern individual to catch up on lost sleep.
In addition to these exciting body treatments, the Saxon Spa has also launched a range of new facial treatments in May, including a La Prairie Illuminating White Caviar Facial and a LUX Collagen Recovery Facial.
VitaJuwel water and collagen-infused smoothies in the Saxon Spa
In the Saxon Spa Juice Bar, guests are now able to add collagen to the spa signature smoothies and juices, which not only boosts protein content but also adds in amino acids, bringing with it a range of restorative benefits.
Adding collagen to these drinks improves skin elasticity, assists in smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles as well as strengthening hair, nails, and teeth. Collagen is also known to accelerate injury recovery time and maintain healthy joints as well as reduce joint inflammation, all of which is the perfect reason to add collagen to your favourite smoothie.
The Saxon Spa also offers guests VitaJuwel water, based on age-old traditions of vitalising water with gemstones. This water has plenty of benefits, such as healing properties, rejuvenation and support of the body, spirit, and mind, improved energy and well-being, as well as decreasing anxiety.
Earth + Sky virtual fitness and wellness classes
In keeping with the worldwide trend towards wellness and mindfulness, the Saxon has partnered with Earth + Sky, to offer virtual fitness and wellness classes for our guests to utilise in the privacy of their suites. A wide variety of classes, to stimulate the mind and body, will be available at any time – perfect for travellers who have become used to doing exercise classes at home and for jet lag sufferers looking for some training.
This exciting service from Earth + Sky is not available anywhere online; it is available exclusively in hotels and the Saxon is the first hotel in South Africa to offer it to its guests.
The fitness and wellness classes are presented by renowned instructors in prestigious locations, such as a Barre de Ballet class presented from the Royal Opera House in London by Royal Ballet Soloist Fernando Montano, or an Upper Body Calisthenics class presented by Ultra Marathon Runner Ben Harrison. Guests are able to view the classes on the televisions in their suites.
