Read about the YOUTH LAB Skincare Launch in South Africa which we reported on in 2021.
So, before you throw up your hands and say – “not ANOTHER skin brand!” let me remind you that in the dark ol’ days we had very little choice. There were one or two affordable brands at the local chemist and then there were the expensive cosmetic lines in department stores – the price of which made your eyes water and triggered the debate on whether to pay your rent or spend it on the remarkable moisturizer that would plump, hydrate, lift and resuscitate your dead skin cells – all in one fell swoop.
Today, we have limitless choices and if you’re serious about investing in the largest organ in your body – your skin – then you have to look at the science to make your decision, even if the purest, most natural ingredients are used. That’s what YOUTH LAB is all about. Their team, made up of leading Greek scientists, went back to the biology of the skin to realise that reactivating its metabolism to preserve its youthfulness was the way to go.
As we get older, our metabolism in our body slows down and we have found various ways to stimulate it so that we have the necessary energy to keep on moving. The same goes for skin – it needs certain active ingredients to boost its own metabolism so that skin cells are re-energized to build strong, radiant, and healthy skin. Logical right? And as the word logic comes from the Greek word logos – I’ll take their word for it.
This beautifully packaged Greek skincare line addresses all skin types and issues; I was fortunate to try the YOUTH LAB Restoring Serum, Wrinkles Erasure Cream for eyes as well as the Wrinkles Erasure Cream.
Youth Lab Restoring Serum
R995.00 (30ml)
The ingredients tell the story: essential peptides and a natural ingredient from Chicory root, amino acids, lovely Hyaluronic acid (HA) for hydration and stabilized Vitamin C for dark spots – everything you need to activate your collagen and elastin production and to enhance radiance and firmness.
It’s light, absorbs easily and due to the HA leaves the skin hydrated. There is a pleasant scent, but this dissipates quickly. I really liked this serum for my mature skin, although it’s recommended for all skin types.
Youth Lab Wrinkles Erasure Cream
R995.00 (50ml)
This cream had me dancing like Zorba the Greek – it’s too heavenly – packed again with peptides, Hyaluronic Acid, Amino acids and Vitamin E – all to lift, rebuild density and smooth fine lines. The packaging gets 10 out of 10 as it’s airtight, so you just press the top of the container down and get the desired amount, perfect for those of us who are particular regarding dipping fingers into open jar face creams. Again, the scent is light but sublime and honestly, a product like this really lifts your spirits (as well as your jowls) making your skin look radiant and smooth.
Youth Lab Wrinkles Erasure Cream for Eyes
R795.00 (15ml)
Although I have said it before – I don’t really use an eye cream: what’s left on my fingers of whatever product I’m using on the rest of my face, I pat around the eye area. However, if you love an eye cream and can afford the luxury, this one is satisfying.
A little denser than the serum, it’s still light and absorbent and I really like its ingredients: peptides, Squalene and Abyssinian oil extract and Vitamin E. This cream also addresses puffiness and dark circles, which I don’t suffer from, but if you do, it’s worth a try, as clinical trials have been done on these products to back their claims.
All in all, YOUTH LAB is a lovely brand to maintain beautiful skin for over 30yrs and 40yrs, but also for golden oldies like myself – I’m really enjoying this Greek trilogy and would definitely recommend it, especially for the advancing cold season.
