Anti-age sunscreen for the décolletage, neck, shoulders and arms
The new Eucerin® Photoaging Control Sun Lotion Extra Light SPF 50+ protects the delicate areas of the body such as décolletage, shoulders, neck and arms, that are exposed to the sun every day.
The extra light formulation further contains Hyaluronic Acid for visibly younger looking skin.
Overexposure to the sun is the main reason for photoaging – premature skin aging caused by UV rays. Besides our face, our décolletage, arms, shoulders, and neck are the most exposed to sunlight on a daily basis. To protect the body from sun-induced skin damage, dermo-cosmetic skin expert
Daily sun protection is needed on all exposed areas of the face, neck, décolletage and body; however many people say that the sticky feel on the skin, or the white film that some sunscreens leave behind on dark skin tones can be a deterrent.
This is an especially light, non-sticky and fast absorbing formula. It also moisturises dehydrated skin, visibly reduces signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, and meets all requirements for protecting the skin, especially the décolletage, arms, shoulders and neck.
Taking sun protection to the next level
When it comes to sun protection this formula goes a step further, including more than just UV filters.
The new Advanced Spectral Technology combines UVA/UVB protection and High-Energy Visible (HEVIS) Light defence. To provide a powerful HEVIS Light defence, the formula contains anti-oxidative Licochalcone A which helps to neutralize free radicals and thus to prevent photoaging.
The formula also contains Glycyrrhetinic Acid which supports the skin’s own DNA repair mechanism.
Furthermore, the light feeling lotion has been enriched with a combination of both short- and long- chain Hyaluronic Acid. The long chain version remains on the skin’s surface, providing it with moisture and leaving it feeling smooth. The short-chain Hyaluronic Acid penetrates deeper. Thanks to this combination, the skin’s appearance is improved, and it is protected against photoageing in the best possible way.
Photoageing – what happens to the skin?
Photoaging is caused by different kinds of UV rays. On the one hand, there are UVB rays: when these rays penetrate the skin, it can lead to sunburn and directly damage the cellular DNA. In the worst case, this causes skin diseases or even skin cancer.
This direct DNA damage plays a role in photoaging, but the main influence comes from the UVA rays. They are able to penetrate deeper layers of the skin, causing oxidative stress and thus releasing free radicals. They not only damage the skin cells but also break down collagen and elastin which are important for plumped up and smooth skin.
As a result, wrinkles can form, the skin loses volume and is affected by hyperpigmentation prematurely. Research has shown that not only UVA and UVB rays can cause photoaging but also High Energy Visible Light. It is not responsible for sunburn but can – similar to UVA rays – affect the skin and cause photoaging as it triggers the release of free radicals.
It is therefore even more important to protect the skin and in particular exposed areas like the décolletage, arms, shoulders and neck against UV radiation on a daily basis.
