1. Pamela Reif
Her YouTube channel has a few workouts targeting full body, legs, booty, abs and arms. I love them because there’s no chitchat, and music and timers are included. Don’t be fooled into thinking “no equipment” workout means it will be light or easy. For man or woman, your heartrate will certainly pump and your muscles will feel like they’re an essential service. In fact, I’ve been reaching the Discovery Vitality Goal every week using just her workouts.

2. Daily Yoga
I’ve been using this app for years and still love it after all this time! There is such a stunning collection of different yoga sessions, from beginners to advanced. The light stretch sessions are perfect to do in between high intense workout days, or the advanced sessions can also get your muscles feeling stiff the next day. Additionally, the relaxing meditations on the app are a huge help in settling anxiety and stress.
There’re a few free sessions on here but I do recommend the silver pro membership which is about R154 for an annual membership.
3. Seven app
I don’t use this as often, nor is it my absolute favourite, but I do like how simple the free version is. The exercises are also completely equipment-free and are easy to follow.
4. Kayla Itsines’ SWEAT
She is sooooo well known in the fitness world and I’m sure many of you have already used her app and workout guide. I used to use this more at the gym because many of the exercises require some equipment. However, she does give a lot of options and tips on how to do the exercises completely at home. Using your phone is a bonus as it includes the list of next exercises and timer for each session (and even better if you have an Apple Watch or something similar that’s compatible). I also love the cool down follow along stretches after each workout. The only thing that has put me off using Sweat during lockdown is not being able to walk outside for the LISS days (Low-Intensity Steady State cardio), but if you have access to a treadmill at home it’s very worthwhile.
It’s a little pricey, but there is a free seven day trial to test it out.
(just an FYI for our international readers – Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa disallows us from being able to walk your dog or jog outside)
5. Chloe Ting on YouTube
This is a new one for me as I was looking for some variation. She has lots of free workout programs and challenges. Music and timers are also included in the workouts and she does talk you briefly through performing each exercise which is helpful if it’s an exercise you haven’t done before.

6. Sarah Beth Yoga on YouTube
Another new one for me but I’ve really enjoyed the free yoga classes that range from 5 to 30 minutes. They focus on helping you to stretch, strengthen, tone and relax. Videos are organised by length, focus and style of yoga. She also covers meditation, pre and post-natal yoga (but please do check first with your doctor before doing these).
