My daughter got married a few weeks ago and the excitement and build-up to the great event was immense – the bride was radiant on the day, due to happiness, and the mother of the bride was not too shabby herself, due to good skin care and some well-timed peels and facials.
Peels have gotten a bad rap in the past, usually because depending on the strength of the acid used, it isn’t a pleasurable experience and there can be some unpleasant downtime where you shed skin like a snake. Not for me, thanks, I don’t particularly like the feeling of a million red ants stinging my face – so I will share some lovely experiences I had which definitely contributed to the gorgeous glow in my skin on the big day – I was also bursting with pride, so that helped too!
Mesoestetic Mesopeel Melanostop Tran3x
About a month before the wedding I went to Dr Kanaris’ new clinic in Sandton, www.altbeauty.org – so gorgeous – and I had the Mesopeel Melanostop tran3x by Mesoestetic.

It’s is a combination peel made up of 20% azelaic acid, 10% resorcinol, 6% phytic acid, and 3% tranexamic acid – all great for brightening and particularly ideal for uneven, dull skin.
My lovely therapist Delene, told me there would be very little or no downtime and that even though the treatment would be gentle, its effects would be quite impressive, as it would renew the epidermal layers, increase the thickness of the skin and it would lighten and brighten. And indeed, even afterward, my skin felt soft, smooth, and glowy and the whole experience was really delightful.
A quick note about Tranexamic acid – it’s well tolerated by the skin and is very safe. People who suffer from melasma would benefit from these Mesoestetic treatments to manage their condition. Successive applications are recommended with 2 weeks rest in between.
Beauté Pacifique Metamorphose Facial
My next treatment took place about a week before the wedding and it was at a Beauté Pacifique flagship aesthetics partner in Dunkeld, Johannesburg, For Beautiful Life. Here, I had the magnificent Metamorphose treatment – which as my therapist Julia explained, is a clinical re-programming of the skin – described as a “No Downtime” Peel alternative.
It is a medical-grade removal of dull and dead superficial cells and really gives you a smooth and rosy complexion quite immediately.
The whole treatment included a 20-minute clinical exfoliation, a 15-minute mask, and then a 15-minute microneedling session for the face and neck.
If you really want to invest in transforming your skin, 3 treatments are recommended over 3 months. Cost: R1600
For home care, I would also recommend you take your collagen, and my next purchase is the Beauté Pacifique Clinical Exfoliator which is a key product in this facial. It contains glycolic, salicylic, and azelaic acid as well as biodegradable Salix Alba bark extract. This gives you an amazing skin surface, but you need to have your skin assessed before you use this product – it’s fairly strong. R1400 for 50mls – you only need a very small amount at a time.
Final thought
All in all, it’s so good to know that we can acquire instant gratification in terms of beautiful, radiant skin, particularly before an important event, with very little or no downtime. Now I need to attend to sore feet, as I danced the night away…
