My longtime favourite French brand, Filorga, recently launched another addition to their Global-Repair range, which is designed for those of us with mature skin issues, namely a lack of radiance, dryness and uneven texture, among others that I won’t list here (in the interest of not ruining your day or your coffee as you read).
The range is comprised of products packed with nourishing ingredients that are great for devitalised skin – and who doesn’t want plump, smooth, and hydrated skin? In terms of the ingredients, you need to know that this brand is science-based and many of our esteemed aesthetic doctors recommend its use.
If you want to know more about the new product, the Global-Repair Advanced Elixir, read about it here.
An elixir by any other name
Before I delve into how I’m using this product, let’s look at the meaning of “elixir”.
Originally, it was regarded as a substance that could turn base metals into gold! Later, its meaning evolved, becoming a somewhat magical cure for many ills – “an elixir of youth” would be a potion the Evil Queen in Snow White would be wanting to get her hands on. But in this context, it can be seen as a multifaceted formula that accomplishes many different tasks, as well as being a lovely addition to any serious skincare devotee’s arsenal!
The Global-Repair Advanced Elixir is very light in texture but rich in its luxurious feel – a few drops are all you need, depending on how you choose to use it. The formula was designed to target the “10 key signs of ageing” and I trust that those potent ingredients are doing just that.
My advice on using Filorga’s Global-Repair Advanced Elixir
I have 10 ways in which you can justify treating yourself to this delicious potion:
- Facial massage: After a good, deep cleanse, warm a few drops on your fingers and give yourself a lovely massage, sweeping up, defying gravity, and enjoying the subtle fragrance of Filorga’s signature scent.
- As a primer: Again, just a few drops are needed – press these into the face gently and go make a cup of tea. Apply make-up afterwards…
- A glowy foundation: This is a tip I learned from a well-regarded make-up artist. For mature skin, less is more, so add a couple of drops of Global-Repair Advanced Elixir to one pump of foundation; mix well and blend onto the skin. Skincare in your make-up – a double bonus.
- Brows: Don’t forget to pay attention to your eyebrows… they do get sparse as the years go by. A tiny drop of product on either a small brush or your finger will get them into shape, while the botanical extracts and essential oils will nourish and revitalise them.
- Highlighter: This trend is fabulous for 20-somethings with smooth skin; for mature skin, you’d do well to steer clear, unless you’re going for the Tinman from The Wizard of Oz What works, though, is a tiny hint of shine on top of the cheekbone; after you’ve done your brows, tap the rest onto your cheekbones to get a pretty, radiant effect.
- Neck and décolleté: After your facial massage, include your neck with some upward sweeps, as well as the décolleté (chest).
- Hands: Don’t rinse your hands after the massage; rather give them some attention – they are the givers in life, so it’s time to give them some love.
- Cuticles and nails: These will benefit from the precious oil as well – nourishment will combat the dryness.
- Lips: Apply to the lips like a balm, taking your time and smoothing out any fine lines.
- Hair: I like warming some drops between my hands and then lightly applying to my locks in a scrunching manner – I love the shine!
The final word
So, there you have it: the Filorga Global-Repair Advanced Elixir is so versatile and I’ve loved putting it to the test. When something ticks all the boxes, like this does, what’s not to love?
