In the heart of Melrose Arch, a clinic experience unfolds that feels as considered as it is luxurious. Paola Chellew visits Lueur House to explore its aesthetic and wellness offering, from skin treatments to advanced body contouring. Her experience reflects a space where technology, expertise and thoughtful care come together in a way that feels both elevated and accessible.

A Luxurious Setting in the Heart of Melrose Arch
Overlooking the Piazza in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, Lueur House fits the premier precinct like a luxurious cashmere glove. Up on its lofty level, glass windows afford beautiful natural light into the magnificent hair salon space, where manicures and pedicures are also on offer. Deeper within, sumptuous treatment rooms offer luxurious privacy, with state-of-the-art, medical-grade aesthetic machines offering everything from simple skincare treatments like microneedling to highly sophisticated body contouring and sculpting procedures. In terms of aesthetics, this is flying first class.
Microneedling with Exosomes: A Gold Standard Skin Treatment
Safe in the knowledge that everything in this space is SAHPRA-accredited, I succumbed to the experienced hands of my somatologist, Patience Moyo, who started by cleansing and then numbing my face and neck for a Dr Pen microneedling session.
I opted for this, having been offered a more luxurious facial, as I wanted to share a basic, gold-standard treatment that I recommend for healthy, functional skin. If you can budget microneedling into your skincare routine, you will reap the rewards over time.
The process is fast and not too uncomfortable, and Patience used the RocQ E50 Skin exosomes in combination. This helps to boost collagen even further and supports cellular repair, shortening the downtime.

Advanced Body Contouring with EmSculpt Neo
At Lueur House, the choice of body treatments is extensive, but not overwhelming, as it all depends on your individual goal. You will be advised accordingly.
As mentioned, the medical equipment is superior, and this is key. I wanted to experience EmSculpt Neo on my thighs. The therapy uses high-intensity electromagnetic energy to make the muscles contract many more times than they would during a gym session. Radiofrequency energy also works to reduce stubborn fat deposits, helping to contour the body.
It is quite a strange sensation as the machine takes over. My instinct was to tense up, but you have to yield to it, and then it becomes quite pleasant. I would imagine this is a particularly appealing treatment post-partum, after some weight loss, or even to enhance your fitness results.
Exion for Skin Tightening and Texture
Combined with EmSculpt, Patience recommended a session with the Exion machine, particularly for those over 50 who experience skin laxity, even when staying active.
Exion Body uses radiofrequency and ultrasound technology to reduce fat and improve the texture of the skin. The overall skin-tightening effect, particularly in areas such as the tummy, thighs and arms, is aesthetically pleasing but also uplifting in a more emotional sense. Entirely necessary after menopause.
A Holistic Approach to Results
Patience also shared pearls of wisdom, with which I wholeheartedly agree: these machines offer excellent results when combined with supportive lifestyle changes.
Watch what you eat, find an exercise routine that you enjoy, incorporate resistance or strength training, and aim to reduce stress levels. It is about a comprehensive approach to well-being. The benefit is that there is minimal discomfort and very little downtime with these latest aesthetic technologies.
The Finishing Touch
Once I had finished the treatments, I got dressed and, feeling slightly dishevelled (as one does after a facial), I was promptly whisked into the hair salon, Money to Blow, for an ultra-quick shampoo and blow-dry within minutes.
With voluminous hair, a glowing face and a more sculpted body, I strode out into the Piazza like the dancing woman emoji 💃🏻
